Medicare Supplements
PLEASE NOTE: By law, you are not required to purchase Medicare Supplement Insurance.
Purchasing a Medigap Policy is optional for anyone on Medicare Parts A & B.
TX BEST MEDIGAP can provide you with both insurance and information; however,it is best to read the government documents for yourself. CLICK HERE to visit the government's website or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for more information.
If you have, or will soon have, Original Medicare Part A and Part B for Hospital and Medical coverage, then you are aware that there are deductibles, co-pays, and a percentage of the bills that Medicare does not pay. You can either pay the difference (which may be substantial if you have major surgery), or you can let an insurance company pay most or all of it for you.
MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS are also known as MEDIGAP POLICIES; however, they are not the same as Medicare Advantage Plans. The difference? Medigap Policies supplement your Medicare Parts A & B. Medicare pays your health care provider first, then the bill crosses over to the insurance company for your Medigap policy to pay. If there is anything left over, then you pay the remainder; however, if you go to a doctor or hospital who takes Medicare Assignment, and you have a full coverage Medigap Policy, it is possible for your bill to be paid in full with no additional expense out of pocket beyond your monthly premiums.
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS work differently. They take the place of your Medicare Parts A & B and provide additional coverage that Medicare Parts A & B do not, usually for a very low monthly premium. You may simply have a small co-pay at the time of visit and be done. The "catch" is that health care providers who accept Medicare may not accept Medicare Advantage plans. This can create an "all or nothing" situation where some people may have to pay for all services out of their own pocket - unless it is an emergency situation where the government requires health care providers to accept clients they may not normally service due to their choice of Medicare insurance.
Both are private insurance plans available to people on Medicare Parts A & B.
Medicare Supplements are standardized and alphabatized to offer the same coverage from company to company. We offer Plans A through L. Plan A is Basic Coverage, and Plan J is the Most Comprehensive. It does not follow suit that each policy offers better coverage as you go from A to L. (example: F has more coverage than H) CLICK HERE FOR CHART

Because the cost of Medicare Supplements can vary dramatically, we look for "the best plans" at "the best prices" and take into consideration those companies who have a history of raising premiums uncomfortably fast. We want you to be happy both short term and long term, and we know most people are on a fixed income in an uncertain economy.
