Medicare Supplements

PLEASE NOTE: By law, you are not required to purchase Medicare Supplement Insurance.
Purchasing a Medigap Policy is optional for anyone on Medicare Part A and B.
TX Best Medigap can provide you with both insurance and information; however, it is best to read the government documents for yourself. CLICK HERE to visit the government's website or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for more information.

If you have, or will soon have, Original Medicare Part A and Part B for Hospital and Medical coverage, then you are aware that there are deductibles, co-pays, and a percentage of the bills that Medicare does not pay. You can either pay the difference (which may be substantial if you have major surgery), or you can let an insurance company pay most or all of it for you.

MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS are also known as MEDIGAP POLICIES because they fill in the gaps for what Medicare does not cover. They are not the same as Medicare Advantage Plans. The difference? Medigap Policies supplement your Medicare Part A and B. Medicare pays your health care provider first, then the bill crosses over to the insurance company for your Medigap policy to pay. If there is anything left over, then you pay the remainder; however, if you go to a doctor or hospital that takes Medicare insurance, and you have a full coverage Medigap Policy, like Plan F, it is possible to have your bill paid in full at no additional expense out of pocket beyond your monthly premiums.

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS, also known as Medicare Part C, take the place of both Medicare Part A and Part B, often providing additional health coverage and may also include drug coverage, so it is like having Medicare Part A, Part B, a Medicare Supplement, and Part D prescription coverage all rolled into one package - typically for a low monthly premium. However, not all healthcare providers who accept Medicare insurance will accept all Medicare Advantage Plans. This can create an "all or nothing" situation where the insured may have to pay for all services out of pocket - unless it is an emergency situation.

Both are private insurance plans available to people on Medicare Part A & B

Medicare Supplements are standardized and alphabetized to offer the same coverage from company to company. We offer Plans A through N.  Plan A is Basic Coverage (typically for people under age 65). Plan F is the Most Comprehensive. It does not follow suit that each policy offers better coverage as you go from A to N (example: F has more coverage than G)

Please Note:  There are Standard Plans and Select Plans. Standard Plans allow you to go to any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare. Select Plans are like HMOs where you are given a list of "select" providers to go to for service. In return, you pay lower premiums; however, a Select Plan with one company may cost more than a Standard Plan with someone else.

Because the cost of Medicare Supplements can vary dramatically, we look for "the best plans" at "the best prices" taking many factors into consideration. We want our clients to be happy both short term and long term.
